When students intentionally reflect, they begin to construct a personal narrative about themselves through which they can piece together the seemingly unrelated aspects of their college experience. Students then learn about themselves, their strengths and weaknesses, and what they enjoy doing, while they develop their capacity for integrative learning.
Wesleyan’s Integrative Learning Project works to support the creation of e-portfolios that students use to reflect on the experiences they have had while in college by offering:
- Two courses (FIST 250 and FIST 350) that Wesleyan students can take for college credit in which they will create their own e-portfolios
- Resources to help faculty who may want to embed e-portfolios in their individual courses
- Resources for departments and programs to think about how they might include e-portfolios in their curricula
